From Kansas to Miami: How I Found Balance Through Wellness and Real Estate

From Kansas to Miami: Finding My Balance

I recently stepped into the guest seat on Everything with Emily, which felt a little strange—because I’m usually the one asking the questions on The Balance with Andreana Jackson. But it turned into a meaningful conversation about my journey, my move to Miami, and why wellness has become the foundation of my life and work.

“I’m usually the one spotlighting other people, so being the guest made me reflect on my own journey in a new way.”

I’m originally from Kansas, and in 2009 I made the decision to move to Miami. I had visited often, but living here taught me quickly that Miami Beach isn’t the same as Miami. Once I settled in, I fell in love with the city’s culture, diversity, and energy.

“I knew I needed something new. I wanted to leave the comforts of home and be uncomfortable.”

After college, I worked as a military contractor, but I realized that path wasn’t aligned with the life I wanted. I pivoted—spent time as a nanny to high-profile families, earned my real estate license, and eventually built a career rooted in lifestyle, community, and connection.

“Sometimes life gives you ‘Forest Gump moments’—you look around and think, ‘How did I get here?’”

I’ve lived in North Bay Village since moving to Miami, and it’s truly home. It gives me space, balance, and perspective—without the nonstop intensity of Miami Beach.

Over the last year, I’ve also committed deeply to my wellness journey. I’m 45 pounds lighter, stronger, and more intentional. Pilates has been my foundation, and discovering LAGREE pushed me even further—physically and mentally.

“I wanted to feel better, move better, and step into my next chapter with intention.”

Wellness isn’t just personal for me—it’s professional. In Miami, lifestyle matters. Discipline matters. And that’s why I created The Balance with Andreana Jackson: to create space for meaningful conversations, inspiring people, and practices that help us live better—not just busier.

“I’m not trying to live forever. I’m focused on living better.”

I’m excited about what’s ahead—new episodes, new guests, and continuing to build a life centered on balance, wellness, and purpose.
